On Kickstarter, a new project has appeared: the PowerHub. The description reads:
What caught our attention, is that this particular hub has a detachable cable. This is very interesting, because that’s pretty rare; almost all USB-C hubs nowadays have a short, captive (attached) cable. Although useful if you travel a lot, on your desk this results in a big mess of cables. This PowerHub can easily be put below your desk with a longer cable, which makes for a much cleaner setup.
Of course, the usual USB-C constraints still apply. For instance, the description mentions a 4K HDMI port but that downgrades the USB 3.0 ports to 2.0 speeds. The usual KickStarter warnings also apply; it’s the first Kickstarter project for this creator.
Still, we’re very interested in this project and will update whenever possible.
