According to the HTC Twitter account, HTC will present its next HTC U smartphone on May 16th. The smartphone is the U-smartphone which features touch sensitive sides. The technology is named “Edge Sense”, with sensors embedded into the frame of the device. The touch features can be used for functions like launching specific apps, taking a picture, launching Google search assistent, and many more.
HTC has long been struggling to find a worthy successor of its semi successful HTC One Series. Without the fan base of Apple, and without the marketing budget and sales incentives companies like Samsung can provide, HTC is fighting a tough battle to gets its share of the estimated US $250 billion smartphone market.
A few weeks ago, the features of the HTC U were presented, and the phone will run on Android 7.1. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset, a 5.5″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The phone also features 64-128GB of storage and 4-6GB of RAM. The phone replaced its 3.5mm audio jack with a USB-C connection for charging and audio.
