This site is all about giving you a selection of reliable, tested and well-reviewed USB-C stuff. We’re looking for the best USB-C monitor dongle, one that’s both affordable and of good quality. The reason is that USB-C can carry a decent amount of power and you do not want to risk damaging your expensive computer. It can and does happen.
However sometimes there are circumstances where you want the absolute cheapest. Dongles for monitors are a good example. They don’t carry high currents, and if your job involves regularly giving presentations, there’s a high chance of forgetting or losing them.
Thus we looked around on DealExtreme and tested a couple of USB-C dongles. Don’t expect the best of the best, just the cheapest. Cheap enough to just order a couple of these adapters, then drop them at your workplace, home office, in your car, laptop bag or wherever. Should they break, no big loss.
After receiving these, they were all checked and worked without any issues. They were connected to a Late 2016 15″ MacBook Pro, which has four USB-C ports. From left to right is displayed: the MacBook Pro, a 4K monitor (the LG 27UD88-W), an older Samsung Full HD monitor and an older Dell monitor with an UXGA (1600×1200) resolution.
