We have to admit, we didn’t know it existed: the Xiaomi USB-C Powered Razor. At the moment, most USB-C related technology is focussed on docks, chargers, power banks, so we were pleasantly surprised that Xiaomi has been offering a USB-C Powered Razor for quite a while now.
We haven’t been able to review the razor ourselves, but Chris Panton received a razor from Gearbest and has posted a video here:
According to the review, the Xiaomi Electric Shaver has a metal body, has a battery life of 30 days, has steel Japanese blades, and, most importantly, charges via USB-C. The total package consists of a (Chinese) instruction manual, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and, of course, the razor itself.
The razor looks stylish, embedded with a small logo, and feels very solid. It also quite easily would fit in your pocket. The razor does a decent job at removing most of the facial hair, but has a tough time removing some of the thicker hairs. After the video, you can still see Chris’ facial hair (hi Chris!), and as Chris recommends, if you want to look extra sharp, don’t use this razor, but go for a slightly higher end one. If you’re looking for a day to day razor, the Xiaomi does a very decent job.
Overall, it’s great to see more consumer devices being equipped with USB-C connections too. General household appliances, or body care products are perfect examples for devices suitable for USB-C connectors, and we’re happy to see Xiaomi took the step in delivering such a product!
