New Philips monitors with USB-C
AnandTech reports about two new monitors announced by Philips. They’re equipped with USB-C and are both 31.5″. One has a 2560×1440 resolution, which seems a bit nuts at that resolution; it’ll make for a very grainy picture unless you put that monitor way at the back of your desk. The other one has a 4K resolution which makes it more interesting. You will either sit very close to it, and run it at native 4K, or scale it down at an appropriate virtual resolution.
What we really like, is that it offers a USB-C connection and as usual a bunch of USB 3.0 ports but also an Ethernet port. This is incredibly useful in offices. Unannounced remains how much power the USB-C port can deliver to a connected laptop.
The monitors both feature very decent IPS panels, according to AnandTech. The non-4K monitor will be available next month, and the 4K is set to arrive Q1, 2018. Announced pricing is €529 – €549 in Europe (US $632 – $655).
