Nintendo Switch and USB-C
Just a week ago, the Nintento Switch arrived. It uses USB-C to charge and dock, and AnandTech published an interesting article on the power comsumption. The article dives fairly deep into the rabbit hole. Suffice to say that the Switch is meant as a portable gaming device, and with that, we expect a raft of accessories like power adapters, battery packs and the like.
Already, the stock Nintendo power adapter is something to note. Ryan Smith (AnandTech) writes: “The first is the power rating of the console’s AC adapter: 15V @ 2.6A, or 39 Watts. This power adapter is quite powerful, more powerful in fact than the 29W adapter Apple includes with the modern 12-inch MacBook.”
GTrusted also gave a first impression of the charger.
We’re hoping for a thorough review of this charger and usage on MacBooks and the like, but for now it looks pretty good. In most cases, 39W will get a lot of laptop users through the day. We’ll keep an eye out for more info but if you can’t wait, check out our current chargers.
